The University of London has launched a fully online postgraduate microcredentials tailored for learners in Malaysia. The programs offer flexible, stackable pathways into UK postgraduate education, providing a cost-effective option for those looking to enhance their qualifications without attending in person. Introduced at an introductory price, the microcredentials serve as an accessible entry point for advancing one's academic career.
Delivered via the University’s Global Digital Campus, it enable learners to start at any time, study remotely and progress at their own pace particularly suited to working professionals and mid-career individuals who require flexible learning options alongside existing commitments.
The microcredentials are delivered in modular and portable, allowing participants to accumulate academic credits that can be stacked towards a recognised postgraduate qualification or transferred into relevant degree programmes. This approach supports Malaysia’s national focus on continuous upskilling and digital education, in alignment with the MyDIGITAL blueprint.
Professor David Latchman CBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, said, “Our online microcredentials are designed to put learners in control of their education, allowing them to study what they need, when they need it and from wherever they are. For learners in Malaysia, this means access to world-class postgraduate learning with academic direction from globally recognised universities, including UCL and City St George's, without the constraints of geography, fixed schedules or traditional entry barriers. This approach reflects our long-standing commitment to expanding access to higher education globally”.
The initial offering comprises eight microcredentials, including three in financial management with academic direction from UCL and five in global supply chain management under the oversight of City St George’s. Each microcredential carries 15 postgraduate credits, providing a lower-commitment pathway into advanced study without requiring long-term enrolment or relocation.
Assessment formats are designed with flexibility in mind, utilising on-demand delivery rather than fixed academic schedules. This allows learners to integrate study with professional and personal responsibilities more effectively.
The University of London maintains a strong presence in Malaysia, with over 16,000 alumni and more than 3,000 students currently enrolled through online programmes and recognised teaching centres. Globally, it serves learners across more than 190 countries, reinforcing its position as a leader in international distance and digital education.
This launch represents the first phase of the University’s broader strategy to expand access to high-quality, flexible higher education across Southeast Asia, enabling learners in Malaysia to benefit from research-led academic content through a unified digital platform.
