In conjunction with national celebrations, cirKLe. makan²: Merdeka Semester 2026 invites Malaysians to reconnect with the foundational people, flavours, traditions and stories of the nation. Taking place from 25 to 31 August 2026 at The Campus Ampang, the week-long cultural celebration anticipates welcoming between 30,000 and 40,000 visitors drawing families, culture enthusiasts, creative entrepreneurs and heritage lovers alike.
Under the overarching theme “Malaysia, Gathered!”, cirKLe. makan² provides a contemporary interpretation of the Merdeka spirit, prioritizing social cohesion, diversity, and shared experience. Rather than merely observing regional differences, the initiative emphasizes how collective experiences strengthen national identity and community belonging.
Central to the event is the 14 Negeri Cuisine showcase of culinary presentation highlighting the distinct regional dishes, ingredients and heritage recipes across all 14 Malaysian states. Beyond the culinary offerings, visitors can engage with:
Local Artisan & Retail Markets: Showcasing handcrafted goods, creative products, and local entrepreneurs.
Cultural Programming: Featuring live artistic performances, heritage workshops, and interactive creative installations.
Immersive Placemaking: Anchored by the central motif, “One Place. One Weekend. One Merdeka.”
A key feature of the festival is Rahmat Bahgia, a multi-sensory pop-up installation created by Jalan Negara Kita. Originally established in 2023 as a grassroots placemaking effort, this year's iteration expands through its partnership with cirKLe. offering an immersive space inspired by the core values of unity and gratitude embedded in the national anthem, Negaraku. The activation seamlessly integrates visual art with specialized F&B concepts, transforming communal dining into a shared ritual of togetherness.
cirKLe. makan² serves as an official platform for local artisans, heritage practitioners and independent entrepreneurs to broaden their reach and access beyond the physical venue. The event features digital and media coverage with livestreams occurring twice daily at 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM. These live broadcasts showcase event highlights, culinary reviews, exclusive vendor presentations and live content creation backed by key opinion leaders (KOLs) and media partners.
